Learners:

You hear a lot of messages about what a guy is supposed to be like — how you should act, what you should care about, what you should never show, and what supposedly makes someone “a real man.” The Man You Want to Be gives you a chance to step back from those messages and think about what matters to you. You’ll talk with other guys your age about real situations involving emotions, pressure, relationships, responsibility, influence, and the choices you make. You don’t have to have everything figured out. The course is about asking good questions, thinking for yourself, and becoming more intentional about your values, your choices, your relationships, and the man you want to be. This course has no reading assignments. There may be suggested activities to carry out in between the sessions. Please bring a notebook and pen to each session.

Parents:

Teenage boys are growing up surrounded by powerful messages about what it means to “be a man” — from peers, family, social media, entertainment, and the wider culture. The Man You Want to Be: Your Values. Your Choices. Your Relationships. gives boys ages 14–17 a structured, thoughtful space to examine those messages, strengthen self-awareness, and consider the values and qualities they want to carry into adulthood. Through guided discussion, real-life scenarios, private reflection, and critical-thinking activities, participants will explore emotions, relationships, influence, responsibility, and social expectations around masculinity. The goal is not to tell boys what kind of men they should become, but to help them think carefully about what they value, how their choices affect themselves and others, and the kind of men they want to become. Note: You will receive a parental permission form to sign after registration.
